Yumei
City employees would understand that buying lunch every day can be fairly expensive. Food courts can charge up to $10-$13 for “fast food” that isn’t considered as decent as it could be.
Instead of searching for a table @ the busy food court, why not pop down to Yumei where you seated in style in comparison to the usual food court seating. I admit it’s not the best japanese food but for ($11) you could get yourself something decent like japanese curry or tempura, donburi, eel etc. Can’t really complain as I think it beats food court food any day.
If your short for cash… EVEN BETTER! My main cost me $11 and it came with side salad and miso soup! Tea coast 50¢ with free refills! Most importantly I left feeling stuffed!

AMBIANCE
Comfortable seating with side couches and chairs that feel like leather. Tables are spacious, decor is decent. Lighting is fairly dim which i think is great.

FOOD
Like i said earlier, it’s not the best japanese food by far.. but its decent for a bargain lunch! However down side is entrees to me seemed quite expensive for the quantity.
50¢ green tea with free refills! Bargain!

Grilled Salmon
4 slices of salmon… most places serve about 6 pieces? Apart from this I quite liked it.. then again can’t go wrong with grilled salmon sushi

Scallops
Never had scallops like this before. It was very unusual and different because it had a bit of firey spice which was nice! The down side of this was the scallops were tiny! I could barely taste it!

Chicken Katsu Donburi with Salad & Miso Soup – My $11 dish
This is my $11 dish! It was huge i couldn’t finish it! It wasn’t as great maybe because I was hoping it would taste like Oyakodon.. can’t complain its $11!!!

Wagyu Beef Steak
The smallest Wagyu cut i’ve ever seen. It cost around $19 from memory.. Not sure what it tasted like.. but it looked nicely glazed..

Yes, food courts can be a rip off (unless you get McDonald’s!). Nice to know Yumei is a cheapish place with reasonable food – is it near Chinatown?

I have to say I’ve never been a big fan of food courts, this looks like a great alternative
Yay for cheap tea with free refills, always a big plus! Those scallops looks really interesting and yummy, pity they were so small.
