Ishiya Stonegrill
Walking along melbourne’s little bourke st chinatown and being surrounded by many varieties of asian cuisines, can make your mind explode when trying to decide on what and where to eat. Next time your in melbourne and you have no idea on what to eat but want something that is affordable, healthy and delicious.. then I suggest trying Ishiya Stonegrill.
Had no idea what Ishiya was all about until the waiter explained to us about how and what their cooking methods was all about. Decided to give it a shot as I loved the concept of how different this is and how there are no japanese restaurants in sydney that share the similar concept.
Cooking Method: This method of cooking is presented to you on a 400 °C volcanic stone where the meat is cooked according to your personal taste and liking. All cuts of meat are trimmed of fats and no oil is used, creating what is recognised as one of the healthiest methods of cooking.
Japanese Prawn dumplings with caviar cooked in a light soy broth.
We ordered this because we wanted to try something completely different. Very different to Chinese dumplings but delicious!

Aburi Sushi – Four pieces of charcoal seared nigiri sushi – Tuna, Salmon,
Scallop & Eel, each piece with its own sauce
Beautiful cuts of seafood! Scallop was huge that you could split it between 2 ppl, eel was delicious, grilled tuna and salmon were a nice size.

Japanese Style Charcoal Grill BBQ Skewers – Mushroom, Chicken and Lamb
This has to be one of my favourites i don’t know what they marinated this with it was soooo delicious!

Stonegrill Porterhouse steak 200gm, two prawns, zucchini and tofu
This has to be one of the best piece of meat I have ever been presented with for such a small price. There was not a single piece of fat and the meat was tender even when cooked well done (i cooked mine well-done as i hate seeing blood).

5 complementary sauces
All of them went well with the steak. I loved all them i was caugh-up choosing between which one to dip next

Desert: Fruit with mini chocolate ice-cream (passionfruit, strawberry, vanilla) and mini japanese icecream cakes

Chocolate Truffle with Japanese mousse and vanilla icecream
