I’m sure everyone of you reading this has driven past the Stamford Plaza on the way to the airport. Airport hotels are often forgotten about and its great to open our minds as to the sorts of foods they offer when entertaining tourists or those traveling to and from sydney for business.
Stamford launched a Malaysian buffet menu which was successful last year and this year decided to bring back its success. Special thanks to the lovely Emma
and Lorraine
for the making this night happen with fellow food lovers and our partners in crime.

Appetisers
Before I Start introducing the foods, please shoot me if i get any of the names wrong. I didn’t bring a notepad and it didn’t occur to me in taking photos of the description of the food.
Gado-Gado A vegetable salad served with a peanut sauce dressing. Combined with various ingredients such as bean sprouts, egg, cabbage, fried tofu?, pineapple, cucumber, chilli. Tossed with prawn paste.

Malaysian Curries
We were presented with many malaysian curries and some of them were very new to me, which made me appreciate this coming from a background that hadn’t been exposed to a variety of Malaysian restaurants putting myself into the shoes of a normal customer.
My favourite for the night was the sambal squid stuffed with chicken mince. From memory I had squid sambal at Mamak and was hoping this would have a bit of flame. Bad luck for me it didn’t and I totally understand it comes down to catering for the majority of non chilli eaters. The beef masak manis was another delicious curry that striked me as a sweet curry. The potato bergerdil melted in your mouth.

Desert
After sampling every single savoury dish, it was time for the desert! B and I enjoyed the Sago and the black pudding. The Kuih was disappointing as it was hard and not wobbly. I still ate it anyway and I had a craving for it so hoed it down I did!

Condiments
Like any other asian culture, sauces play a role when it comes to cooking. Peanut sauce was nice almost reminding B of the vietnamese peanut sauce that his mum makes when prawn rice paper rolls are dipped in, chilli (always pleases me) and the prawn paste / sambal sauces and mango chutney take dishes to a whole new tasting level.

HCTF Team and I were in the mood for more deserts so we decided to sample the other Stamford deserts such as cheesecakes, tiramisu, custard rum and chocolate mousses. Lets just say it was mouthwatering and we were licking our lips all night ![]()
