Mamak is an awesome restaurant for cheap eaters who are battling during this credit crunch crisis. Their Roti is to die for that I cant stop thinking about it as its permanently drilled and burned into my mind. I admit im not a Malaysian expert but it beats Indian roti hands down!!!

First came here randomly as Bruce and I finished work early. There we bumped into Simon, Suze & Helen. My first experience was great and we enjoyed it thoroughly even though we were lost in terms of Malaysian cuisine. Sunday met with the lovely girls Steph and Betty and there Steph showed us the ropes as to the wonderful world of Malaysian food! Shes officially made me hooked on roti / malaysian food in general!

Roti Tisu with Condense Milk
Looking at the roti tisu makes me want to wear it on my head! Its perfectly aligned it could pass as a fancy dress hat! LOL. Who thought Roti could be made this thin? Its soo thin its thinner than a piece of paper! It has a sweet / sticky texture once poured / dipped with condense milk it makes my heart melt!

Roti Kaya (Pandan and Coconut Spread)
The sex! Yes I love this dessert till death do us part! Its a thicker roti but light and deadly at the same time! I love anything with Pandan and coconut!!! Bruce and I demolished this in seconds haha I don’t even know if we chewed it! I think we swallowed like a whale opening its mouth for plankton to swim in!

SAVOURY FOOD
I’m a lover of spicy foods and chilli! If you can handle a bit of flame on your tongue and tingles on your lips then Mamak is a place you gotta try for great food with value for money!

Roti Canai – $5 Bargain!!
No shit!! This actually costs $5!! I think i could eat one whole tray to myself! I’m in love with all 3 dips it has to offer! Its served with two curry dips and sambal sauce! Its definitely a must have on the menu!

Maggi Goreng
You read it right.. Maggi noodles! I recommend these over the Mi Goreng. I think its lighter and not as dense / heavy as hokkien noodles. If your a lover of hokkien noodles then by all means go for the Mi Goreng!

Sambal Sotong (Calamari with fiery sambal sauce)
I’ve never eaten calamari like this before. The texture was soft and very tender! Its spicy hot and I LOVE IT!!! I do warn you..if you can’t handle your spices its probably a dish I wouldn’t recommend. If you can then chow it!

Ayam Berempah
Crispy chicken Malaysian style! Its nothing like Vietnamese crispy skin chicken. From memory the skin had some sort of flavour as it once pulled apart from the bone. Flesh is tender and the skin is super crispy!

Kopi’o’ (Malaysian Black Coffee with condense milk)
I love anything with condense milk!!!! Different style coffee so don’t expect it to be your usual cafe down the road who makes a mean frothy cappuccino! Personally I loved it! It wasnt too sweet which is a good thing! Made it pleasurable to drink and went well with all the meals.

Betty’s Beverage with ginger? and Steph’s Milo with Condense milk was also amazing. I recommend their beverages as well.
