Lens Testing @ Ramen Kan
The real purpose of this entry was testing out a cheap lens that i’ve had for a while and never used as much. Now I’m in love with the depth of field (see how it focuses and blurs out the background like a magazine shot?) I know my food photos are still not as good as I like them to be haha i guess I still have a lot to learn about taking photos of food since i’m still a novice at this food blogging thing =|. Hope to get used to this lens and use this for future food photos ^_^

I did a review on Ramen Kan ages ago so I’m not going to redo it (see old review from a billion years ago). I’m pretty sure heaps of people are aware of this place already. If your not I suggest you take ur bootayz down there for a cheap Japanese feed. I’ve been here a billion times so it explains all.

I love Ramen Kan!!! And yes Kaisen don is one the very best dishes that they offer *me rubs belly. Rob took me here on our few dates we had in early days. The one in china town looks so dodgy!
You make food look good lee! I find it hard to take photos at restuarants, it’s one of my weaknesses. I have to work on my lightening. So annoying without auto focus on Nikon 50mm! Nikon has a 35mm lens equivalent to canon’s ($600) for $350!! So cheap! Internet prices are the best.

I dont mind the chinatown one i quite like the inside has a real cosy japanese theme hehe Its been years since i last went to chinatown Ramen Kan, i’ve been going to bondi cos its closer and easier to find parking but still its just as packed and tight as the chinatown branch =(
Thanks anita.. im still learning.. im trying not to use flash for my food photos.. I want to capture the mood of a photo argh its soo harddddd.. When i look at my fotos i think how crap they are in comparison to others. Some are just soooo pro with their angles. I should stick to rust and decay / macro-able objects. Its much easier than taking photos of food =(
I hate the AF on my canon lens.. which is why i never liked the lens until i took it to ramen kan on the weekend. I made up my mind im going to try use it in MF mode. since then it seems to work best for me. Ii just hate the sound of the AF motor especially when its trying to adjust sounds soo horrible and cheap =(.
Try and use robs lens on his camera you’ll get what i mean.. I think the nikon 50mm has a much better build than the canon 50mm. When i compare lis’ & mine hers seems to be made with much better materials and looks much nicer. You’ll learn to love that lens one day.. its taken me 6months to finally get into mine.
Can’t wait to go shooting ^_^ hope we can all find a time for this month before u leave!
