pho 54, cabramatta

pho fo sheowwww!

First time I came here was when I was 18 and unfortunately I don’t remember what the soup tasted like as I wasn’t much of an eater back then. Every time I’m in cabramatta its always on a freaking Sunday (for those who don’t know… Pho 54 doesn’t open on Sundays). Thanks to my pho craving I managed to make the trek on a day I knew it would be open.

So hows the soup??

Pretty darn good! Pho 54 is not a pimped up restaurant so if your picky with looks then i suggest you think beyond the square. Even though the interior may look a bit tired and retro, don’t diss it cos the soup is actually quite tasty and those thick noodles are comfort food!

On arrival, don’t expect menus to be flashed in front of your face in fancy English and pretty pictures cos you wont be getting that babied treatment here. In saying this, pho 54 are specialised in what they do hence the shop name “PHO”! Menu is simple, minimal and straight to the point and offer soups with beef (bird loves you wont find chicken here!).

  1. I think sometimes the best restaurants are the most dingiest ones.. They don’t open on Sunday? LOL I’ve never noticed that! I think I now love this place.. I thought I liked Pho Tau Bay but I’ve now reverted to Pho 54, the broth is better and also the cuts of beef in my opinion are of better quality and more generous. I think in one week I went here TWICE! Love it!!

The last time I was here, a group of 4 asian girls came in and tried ordering spring rolls, crispy chicken or vegetarian dishes.. So so silly to do so since they walked into a PHO restaurant, all you’ll get is PHO! Oh and Com Tam lol

Coming from you, I will give pho 54 a go as I’ve always thought Pho An is really good.

Well I think so anyway.. Everyone has different preferences/tastes for Pho (that’s what makes it so good – it’s easily adaptable to suit ones palate). One place might be great for one person and this same place might be so-so for another.. But Pho 54 is a place I like to come back to because the broth is generous and quality of meat is great.

Do try it though when you get a chance :)

It’s Pho season again, I love it. My parents always say that the dingiest places are often the beat. I believe that. Aww I would have ordered the Pho with the lot.
