Iguana’s, Hamilton New Zealand
Went to Hamilton and ate at the most ‘proper’ restaurant /bar in the CBD called “Iguanas” Worst service by far, very rude and annoyingly pushy! They asked me if i finished entree 3 times! It wasn’t as though i was eating like a snail.. i mean we literally got the entree 2 minutes ago and how is my small mouth supposed to shove it down my throat?
Throughout the whole night our waitress kept asking us QUESTIONS! I just wanted to tell her to piss off as she was extremely annoying.
We also had a fiasco where no Binis and Hats were allowed (which i understand)…however not sure why they pin-pointed us out but there were heaps of others wearing hats so we questioned as why others were allowed ot wear it and we werent? They said it was dress code which is cool so we asked for the statement which they couldnt find LOL..
That wasn’t the end of the story.. I knew we should have left especially after having so many god damn issues! They probably sabotaged our meals hence why they were so SHIT! either the cooks are crap or one again it was out for the Kill LOL.

Very unusual dish, felt like I was eating indian bread / indian marinade without the gooeyness
Garlic Prawn Linguini
I rarely touched my dish. I just ate the prawns. Probably the worst Prawn Garlic Linguini I have EVER tried on this planet!!!!!! No taste what so ever, extremely bland i loaded it with salt and pepper!
Lamb Shanks were cold and so was the mash underneath and the sauce!
This indicates to me its pre-made and they probably shove it in the microwave!!!!!
Best part of my meal was the glass of Merlot wine! LOL I assume because they didn’t make it haha!
This place was soo bad we didnt even bother with desert!

omg. what a terrible experience! i dont mind bad service, if it’s good food, but this was just bad all round! poor you!!

Awwwl Leona I’m sorry you had such a crappy time in Hamilton (my home town). Iguana is a terrrrrible restaurant. I hope it wasn’t a local who took you there coz they should know better! If you are ever back in Hamilton email me and I’ll give you some better suggestions. iCafe is a lovely little Japanese place, Domain does standard Euro/French fair with little fuss, Al Dente or Pastamia is usually the place to go to for a decent hand-made pasta, none of the Thai or Chinese food is really worth eating unless you get cravings like I do. Anyway I’m really enjoying your blog and I’m eating my way through Sydney while I’m here following your lead!!!

Unfortunately, i wasn’t with a local
at the time we were there it was the only place open and it was freezing cold, so we picked Iguanas because it was the only restaurant which had a lot of people. :(
