Competition: Win a Panasonic Lumix G2
Posted on Tuesday, August 10, 2010Congratulations to Hannah who is the winner
of the Panasonic Lumix G2 competition!
Thank-you to everyone who entered this competition. I know many of you spent ages typing up your responses and no doubt I wish there were more cameras to hand out. Nuffnang have read everyone’s responses and chosen a winner (see below for her chosen / winning comment).
Hannah’s winning response:
Oh wow! How much would I love one of these *squeal of girlish delight*, ahem, anyways. How would the Lumix G2 make me a better photographer: Most importantly it would be the G2′s dynamic qualities. SLRs are seemingly made to be set on a tripod all day – they’re heavy, and big. Not the sort of thing you could take anywhere. The G2 would live in my bag without a problem. Secondly I love the flip screen, it’s such a great idea. Not only does it protect the screen, but it means I can take self-portraits quicker, a definite plus for any blogger!
Finally I would love the flexibility of either auto or manual. For happy snaps auto is fine, but when you’re serious you really need manual settings. Not to mention the Leica lens is basically flawless, which means zooming would not sacrafice my image quality. The Lumix G2 would beat all my other cameras hands down!
And that is how it would make me a better photographer…

You don’t have to be a great photographer to take great photos! As a food blogger, I’m very shy when taking photos at restaurants. I always get a bit nervous when people start looking at me as I bring out my chunky DSLR. Most of the time, I simply can’t be bothered lugging the darn thing around which is why you will love the Panasonic Lumix G2 thanks to its smart, compact, simple design that comes in a range of cool colours! (blue, red, black).
It’s a great camera for those who are new to photography or want to learn how to use a DSLR. Panasonic Lumix G2 ability to interact with the user is one of a kind with its swivelling LCD screen, HD Video and the very handy touch screen gimmick. Viewing photos are done with the flick of a finger, (almost like flicking through pages on an ipad). It also enables the user to quickly select focusing points by a touch of a finger!
read the details below on how you could win!

flexible and caters for all to suit ones needs!
If you’ve never had a DSLR before, never fear as the Panasonic Lumix G2 is halfway between point-and-shoot and SLR. It does everything a DSLR can do and provides an option of purchasing a inter-changeable lens kit tailored to provide good training wheels into the wonderful world of photography.

You spin me right round, baby, right round
like a record, baby, right round round round..
LCD screen swivels 180° horizontally and 270° vertically. I find its extremely handy if your a shorty like me who finds it difficult to reach beyond my height. It allows me to swivel the LCD screen downwards, so I could see exactly what I’m pointing at. Also another feature I love is you could flip the LCD screen around to take personalised photos with you and your friends without having to worry about aiming the lens elsewhere or asking people to take a photo for you.

5 panasonic lumix G2 photography tips
I often think about the quality of photos I’m going to produce, so quality is definitely something I highly look for when purchasing any camera. Panasonic Lumix G2 does great in light and pretty darn good in the dark. (see further below for results).
1. Macro – Everyone knows how much I love my macro photography. Its a brilliant way of taking photography at different level with an intimate touch. It allows you to zoom into something fine like a piece of dust exposing images which the naked eye can sometimes not see.

2.Indoor Photography – If you have a kitchen which doesn’t let in too much light, you can use the ‘M’ function (Manual) or set it to full Intelligent Auto Mode. This allows me to be in complete control over all options which is great. Using Manual allows adjust the exposure, white balance when taking a photo.

3.Bokeh Shot – Bokeh is a technique where the background is blurred and when taken at night, pretty dots of colourful lights are formed. Many food photographers / bloggers use bokeh techniques when taking photos as allows people to focus on a particular object. To do this effectively, it all depends on what lens you have. The Panasonic Lumix G2 14-45mm lowest aperture is f/3.5. So I knew the shallow depth of field wouldn’t be as prominent but hey, it does the job (see bokeh blur below)

4.Adjusting Shutter Speed – Perfect for capturing fast movements which is also handy when trying to capture pouring water from a jug (freeze water) or staff zooming around the restaurant quickly or light effects of speeding cars (light trails). (Change the mode to ‘S’ to increase or decrease shutter speed for longer or shorter exposures).

5.Low Light
Considering lens kit’s lowest aperture is f/3.5, the lens, it surprisingly does well! I purposely went to a low light Thai restaurant over the weekend and was surprised to see the end result.

Wow, thanks everyone who entered our massive Panasonic competition – we had literally hundreds of entries.
We’re happy to announce the two winners were Hannah, who won the Panasonic Lumix G2, for her comment on Daydream Lily‘s blog, and Bryson, who won the Panasonic Lumix TZ10 for his comment on Iron Chef Shellie‘s blog. The cameras are winging their way to their new homes right now as we speak! Thanks to everyone who entered – we were blown away by the sheer number & creativity of the entries – it’s pretty clear that bloggers LOVE competitions with prizes that would help them be better bloggers, like these cameras.
where does one start?
I have always had a interest in photography. and when I had my children this was just another oppertunity to become a shutter bug;)
My camera that I am currently using was a free one that came with a phone my mother bought about 6 years ago, I have taken some beautiful shots with this camera, and it’s servered us well, just the other day I dragged it out of the sock and took some wonderful photos of the kids sports day.
I could carry on about, ”winning this camera would be a dream…….winning this camera would mean…..ect”
), with 4 kids 2 dogs and a house to pay off, this is something at will never happen.
but……, that’s not the truth, in reality a camera like this is something that I would never buy myself because of the cost. I would love to justify spending that amount on a beautiful peice of equpiment that would soley be for my use (trust me, KIDS would not be playing with this
I miss out on a lot of wonderful oppertunities for photos, not only of the kids but of places that we go on our little adventures. I can never get the focus right, or the light is to dark/bright, to the point that I don’t bother taking it most times because it’s just disappointing. A camera like this would mean this is not a factor anymore…..
Wanting to venture into Street Footwear Photography in Melbourne, I really think the G2 will give me just what I need; something more complex and able to manipulate compared to a point-and-shoot but simpler to work with compared to a full DSLR (which mind you, is a future investment, and I say investment because buying the camera is JUST the start before you start funding for lenses and flashes!)
L-ightweight so I can take it everywhere and practise
U-ltimate touchscreen for ultimate usability
M-ega O.I.S. to avoid mega blurry photos
I-ntelligent auto to do the hard work for me
X-tremely SLR beginner friendly (perfect for me)
G-ood-looking camera so I look like a real photographer
2- easy 2 take awesome photos!
I would love the Panasonic Lumix G2: How will the Panasonic Lumix G2 make you a better photographer?
It is a great, easy to use camera that will give me quality photos. I have taken so many photos but they never turn out right, so I haven’t been able to use them. So many times I have the intention to write a blog about a beauty feature/tutorial but I cant because I dont have a good camera to take good photos.
The Panasonic Lumix G2 will help me be a better photographer because it will give me good quality pictures that I can use and be proud of especially with the auto function it has – nothing will be missed when taking a photo. I also make videos for my YT channel so the HD video function, will definitely come in handy to tape good quality videos too.
I want a simple, easy to use, great features and good quality camera and the Panasonic Lumix G2 is just that.
Would allow me to take real photos of my food blog for men
Currently using an old school Canon Pro1 and it’s junk, would be nice to own a real SLR one day.
I have no DSLR camera, if you will give me the chance to win the LUMIX G2 SLR I would definitely practice my hidden talent which is photography and the Panasonic LUMIX G2 is my first ever camera that will make me a good photographer someday!
Well for starters it looks like I don’t need to be a rocket science to know how to use it! Secondly, even with my limited knowledge of photography I now that Panasonic are innovators. I purchased an LX3 when they first cam eout and haven’t been disappointed………except I need more zoom! My photos would definately be improved with this great new features…..and more zoom!
i believe all things are mastered from practice & examples …. with a sexy compact G2, practice shooting is just a handbag away… and its advanced technologies will give me plenty of examples on how a photo should be taken … and i love zooming too!
If I had a camera as good as this…my blog, website and twitter mates would be the real winners
This Panasonic Lumix G2 would give me the opportunity to learn the basic techniques and master the talents of many photographer’s i inspire to. It will give me the chance to enjoy taking imagesof everything and anything that inspires me such as food, family and friends. It is purely a great chance to capture splendid images of surrounding activities and have the chance to keep and treasure those memories.
Because i don’t even own a camera right now.
so beautiful, you put my pics to shame, and I’ve got a dslr… maybe i should learn to use it properly!
Because it is stylish, slick and chic and I wouldn’t have any hesitations about pulling it out of my bag, at the opportune moment and showing it off.
