Sicilian

Last year while I was living out at Parramatta.. I often found myself lost in the ‘suburbs of the west’. As I settled in I got used to the location tried various cafes / restaurants along Church St, Parramatta and Sicilian was one of them.

I found myself in the West again and as usual we had no idea what to eat.. so we trekked back to the Sicilian as a refresher of what their food was like. Over all I’ve been here a couple of times and I’ve always found it to be pretty good for the area.

AMBIANCE
Can get loud as apparently this venue can hold up to 200 people.

SERVICE
Service here is pretty good at times. Sometimes takes them a while to grab the bill other times they’re on the ball. Can’t blame them at the end of the day as they have a huge coverage over the floor.

FOOD
Portions are huge and each time ive gone here i’ve never been able to finish anything and there is a bit of a wait if you haven’t made reservations.

Chicken al Funghi
Grilled tender breast of chicken topped with a creamy sauce made from onion and crushed garlic, all served on a bed of oven roasted sweet potatoes.

This dish is delicious! I’ve had it here a couple of times and i’m always satisfied. However its very very very bigggggg and extremely tasty as the mushrooms / bacon / crispy sweet potato and the creamy sauce that is combined together =P

Prime Rib Eye(350gms)
Tender and tasty organic aged grain fed beef, char grilled to your liking and basted in our secret served with Sicilian seasoned potato wedges topped with grilled king prawns.

Lamb Shank
Tender Lamb shanks marinated in olive oil, garlic, oregano, red wine jus, onion and sun dried tomato served on buttered desiree potato mash.

The boys always seem to order the shanks, apparently they claim its sooo nice… I’d try it but unfortunately i’m not a lamb eater. :(

Pollo Mandorlato
Boneless plump breast of chicken, crumbed in lemon zest and almonds, served with a generous serving of garden salad and chips.

First time ive ever tried this.. I didn’t think it would come out like a schnitzel but guess what? IT WAS SOO GOD DAMN NICE!! the almonds pieces mixed with the crumbed chicken was SOO GOOD! the sauceee was sweet made with rasins! Its been about 5 years since I last had a schnitzel so it was good to bring back the old skool tracks!

I shared by chicken cos i couldnt finish it and ppl wanted to try the crumbedness. I was super good that i didnt eat the chips as i had boot-camp the next day.

Miranda
Generous size grilled chicken breast topped with grilled king prawns placed on a bed of oven roasted seasonal vegetables finished with the chef’s secret avocado and red capsicum cream sauce.

Pasta Misto Mare
A traditional Italian spaghetti dish combining a selection of mussels, prawns, scallops, fish & calamari seasoned with mixed Italian herbs in a napolitana, garlic and basil blended sauce

I usually order this when i come here. I always tell them to add chilli + chilli flakes which always makes it a touch nicer with fire ^_^. Pasta can sometimes be over cooked sometimes aldente.. seafood in here is always packed with goodness.

Mykonos
Prawns, shallots and fetta

This pizza is super plain.. i ordered this at the time when I was a vegetarian =P

Fish of the Day (Gluten Free)
Grilled fresh fish of the day served with your choice of garden salad

Cannelloni Siciliana
Al dente cannelloni pasta filled with a delicious blend of spinach, pesto and ricotta cheese, smothered in a traditional napolitana sauce. Garnished with Penne Campagnia

I remember ordering this dish ages ago because I love cannelloni. However i remember being disappointed because they stuffed it with sooooo much ricotta cheese it made me feel sick from its richness which ended up taking over the flavours of the dish =(

Herb Pizza
This is usually an entree meal. Its sooo huge yet sooo niceee as they pack it with heaps of herbs under the cheese. ITS SOO GOODDD

Gotta love the Burb’s, I don’t live far from Parra but I often get deterred due to the hoons. However, I think I might try this place just for the Chicken al Funghi.

    Hey LEona,

i dont have a site i just go on eatability, i think ive done the most reviews there.i like eatability but it is limited like no forums, not being to contact other people on the site but at least it does have a discount page

im not that computer savy despite being chinese!! haha and im not much of a photographer, despite having a friend who has a $10000 camera and expensive lenses!! When i go on trips, i just take 1000 photo’s and just choose the best ones to print out haha

Oh my group of friends,we basically shared pizza’s with 7 of us, my friend (and another) said this use to be THE italian place to goto until “Criniti’s” came (i heard they are opening up also in Darling harbour) and that there standards have dropped.

Looking at other peoples dishes, there mains look large i size.

The pizza’s for me was slightly above average, Mykonos pizza which had fetta and prawns was the best, fetta really goes well on pizza!! My friends seemed to enjoy it more than me, and guess what, my whole group is going to have a PIZZA fight off,who knows the best pizza place!! GREAT im going to get fatter than i am now!! haha

You got a fav pizza place?

The funniest part of the night was this waitress which gave my friend attitude, not sure if she was being sarcastic but it was funny. The wrong coffee came and she said HEY get the cup, its heavy, i cant hold it forever!! my friend said he didnt order it. And his mocha, came cold!! haha he was a little scared to ask for it to be heated and she did stand close to him asking him what he had ordered, but he was scared she was going to punch him!! haha

Great night with my friends, but pizza is slightly above average, but do want to try a main here one day

These days you dont have to be computer savvy.. there’s blogger pro or blog spot whatever its called.. and you can download template themes which is super easy… if you really needed help I would be more than happy to help you with coding (my specialty) ^_^
