Cafe Bello
Been here a couple of times in the past and collected a stash of photos i took of the food back then. Decided not to post any up because me being a picky freak i like my photos to be the same quality and digital camera images / coloring doesn’t match up with the SLR technology.. I tried editing them in Adobe Lightroom and hmm still wasn’t happy with it.
Standard Burwood cafe with schnitzel , steaks, pizza, risottos, salads etc. Its been about 5 years since i last had a meal of theirs and quite honestly it probably wasn’t good which is why i couldn’t remember it. With the amount of restaurants along Burwood Road, there’s soo many cafe’s to choose from which is probably why i haven’t come back to bellos in a long time.
Reading the reviews on the place their meals sound dodgy! Don’t think i’ll be trying that one.
Cake night so we thought my favourite triamisu cafe wouldn’t be serving desserts at 9:00pm (yeh no shiet gotta be 10:00pm) so it we went here instead as the other burwood cafe’s were packed out. Sha’ll be back at burwood for another review this up-coming week…hopefully.
AMBIANCE
Usual cafe atmosphere with lots of chit-chat and catching-up. Funny enough every time i come here i’ve bumped into people I know… why is that??? hmmm.. Anyways friendly atmosphere with boothes for privacy, and an upstairs venue for parties if your holding one (don’t think i’ve seen ppl eat upstairs).
SERVICE
It’s alright but could do better. Waited ages to put our orders through.. not sure if they were under-staffed but it sure felt like it.
FOOD
A big selection of cakes and desserts to choose from. From waffles, to pancakes, lemon meringue pie, to serendipity ice cream. and the good thing about this that all cake are $6.50!!! (BARGAIN!) High Cake turn over which is great because you know your getting a fresher slice.

I was there a month ago, and was very happy with their hamburger.. what made it more enjoyable was that we had an entertainment voucher which was 25% off

I sometimes go here after my Soccer match if it’s in Burwood/Strathfield. I always get the Burger with the works. It’s probably the fail safe item on the menu. It’s huge, needs to be eaten with knife and fork!
The coffee is ok, could be better but I’ve had worse.

Been burned too many times at that place to warrant going back. Slow service. So-so food. With the strip of cafes available, I think you could find better.
On the other hand, they’ve been around for ages, so they must be doing something right. Just not for me, unfortunately.

Disgusting service!!! Me & a friend were acosted by 3 staff members after our meal who said they mucked up our bill from 3 weeks before & we underpaid on that occasion ; and they ordered us to pay $10 difference when they mixed up our table numbers. There was a queue of people behind us by the way. I will never set foot into that restaurant ever again. Also, 1 of the staff members turns up to work high on something and mixes up orders all the time.

That’s a shame u had such bad service it can really ruin a night. I’m also not a fan of bello.. I haven’t been there since I last posted this entry a yr a ago. If I’m in burwood for a cafe feed… I rather dine at sidney cafe or georges.

The food served at Bellos is disgusting! I was once served a cheese burger with half-cooked/half-raw meat, one bite and I threw up! The service is pathetic. Everytime I’ve visited, the staff will seat you, forget you, then 30 minutes later you’re calling one over (they don’t make eye contact with patrons) to take your order, then you wait another 45 minutes before you get your meal (whether it be cake & coffee, or an entree or dinner sized meal). The coffee is terrible, weak, and once I found a cotton matted ball in mine, I honestly almost vomited. They even have a skinnny male employee that smells like weed and is so slow, it makes you wonder why they employee pot-smoking, teen-looking people. The ambience isn’t that great either. Sometimes the air conditioner is turned on high, and sometimes it’s not turned on at all, sometimes the music is turned on loud to rush you to eat, and sometimes nothing at all. It seems to be frequented alot by older white men who have chinese girlfriends. I don’t know what that is all about but it’s creepy being surrounded by them. The manager, nor its workers, have no sense of climate temperature. The entre and main meals are over priced for what they are. There are other cafe restaurants in Burwood such as Palm Breeze which serve amazing flavour-filled fresh meals. Honestly, don’t go to this place unless you want to be completely disappointed.
