Bills, Darlinghurst

I find it extremely hard to wake up on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately its the only day of the week I get to catch-up on sleep before another week of work *rolls eyes*. Some of us had shockingly never been to bills before so this was an important reason to wake up for some of Bill’s McLovin’ brunch followed by shopping with the girls and hoeing into boon chocolates!

I got there quite early (11am) and to my surprise there was a long line of people waiting for a feed and the occasional Japanese girls taking photos of each other in the doorway of the restaurant. Thinking they’d forgotten about us, we were finally seated an hour later which was totally worth the wait!

Rosehip & mint punch
The name of this beverage lured me into purchasing this. Betty & I found it fairly unusual as it reminded us of the Nerds candy (thanks to the light fizz and the semi-medicine like taste). Personally I didn’t mind this drink, took me a couple of sips to get used to but in the end the mint gave a nice refreshing taste.

Bills own ginger cordial
Lisa (Ginger beer queen) couldn’t resist the temptation of a ginger beverage. Taste was very gingery which I liked and some what reminded me of ginger tea but with the fizzy cold edge.

Bills hot chocolate made with callebaut
Steph couldn’t move away from her usual bills hot chocolate as this is one of her traditional must-haves when visiting bills. Seriously, how could you say no to something that looks so dee-lish??? No doubt this is one of the most appealing hot chocolate beverages around.

Sunday, bloody sundayU2
A sunday without coffee is a sin! lol

Bill’s Special – It’s called ‘special’ for a reason..

Sweet corn fritters with roast tomato, spinach & bacon
I love you sweet corn! These corn fritters are made with REAL FRESH corn as I saw one of the chefs drag it into the kitchen! It is truly an awesome breakfast dish. The combination with the tomato, spinach and bacon hit all the right notes. Definitely one of my favourites!

Ricotta hotcakes, fresh banana & honeycomb buter
I’m not one who loves sweets for breakfast. I’m usually the type who orders vegetarian breakfasts . These pancakes are BOMB!! It wasn’t too sweet which is great for the morning as I don’t wanna leave feeling sick. GOd these are SOOOOOOOOO orgasmic! Pancakes were fluffy, soft light… the ultimate must have! Can’t wait to go back and have these babies againnnnn! *lick lips* =P

Scrambled organic eggs with sourdough toast
I’ve heard a couple people mention bills scrambled eggs is the best. I personally enjoyed his eggs as it wasn’t buttery, oily or sickly rich. Instead it was light, fluffy and smooth.

Parmesan crumbed free range chicken schnitzel with spicy slaw
Not your usual schnitzel which you would find at a general sandwich store. Chicken was delicious and the spicy slaw was really nice. Slaw reminded me of a fusion Vietnamese/Thai salad which really made this dish stand out.

After feeling completely full from breakfast, we walked up the road and bought chocolates from boon and demolish this outside the store LOL. We were all pretty excited that betty almost dropped the whole box onto the street floor LOL thanks to her super reflexes she managed to catch it in time *phewww*!!

  3. I can’t believe that you haven’t been to Bills before. I went five years ago on my first visit to Oz! lol

The only breakfast I haven’t had is the ricotta hotcakes, but they are definitely what I am going to order next time. Not often you hear of food described as orgasmic! O_o

(P.S. Even I know you need to be at Bills before 9am to be in with a chance of avoiding the line.)
