My Canh, Bankstown
Banquet for 2 = $46!
I’ve been coming here for 6 years! It was back in the day when (B) & I were both broke-ass students. This was (B’s) way of impressing me with food from his culture LOL. If you ask me, it probably was a test to see if I could handle Vietnamese food. I admit, I struggled with the avocado shake as my weak gut let me down after a couple of sips which then sent me exploding in the toilet LOL… apart from that epic fail, I out done him with the chilli. *YEH BABY!*
After forgetting to return here after a year, I had a craving for steamboat! so we decided to make a trip to Bankstown hoping the bang-for-a-buck deal was still available and thank heavens it was! *WHOO!*

What you get..
- 1 small steamboat (valued $27)
- 2 spring rolls
- 2 rice paper rolls with peanut sauce condiment
- crispy skin chicken with fish sauce condiment
- combination fried rice

Combination Steamboat (made with clear chicken stock broth)
Tofu, prawn, squid, pork, fish, Vietnamese fish balls, various veggiesI love steamboat especially during winter periods. Its a really nice clear broth soup with soo much flavour almost reminding me of chicken stock with good bits of seafood. There are other sorts of Vietnamese steamboats e.g. fish / lau canh chua. This steamboat is great if you want something simple. I like my soups with a bit of heat so I add the optional chilli and soy sauce to my bowl.

Spring rolls and pork and prawn rice paper rolls with peanut sauce condiment
Some things you just can’t go wrong – spring rolls were crunchy and tasty. The rice paper rolls are delicious as always. I find the rice paper rolls thinner than usual.

Crispy Skin Chicken with fish sauce condiment
Crispy chicken was nice, golden and crunchy and moan worthy!

Bo luc lac – diced beef with mushroom and pepper
(B) and I hadn’t eaten anything all day so we thought we’d order an extra dish of the soft tender bo luc lac!!!. Our stomachs were being greedy that we were so full. We realised we probably shouldn’t have ordered this as we left some back cos we were so full!

Combination Fried rice (prawn, lap cheong, egg, peas corn carrot)
Something about this fried rice that is quite tasty and addictive. The colour of the fried rice is yellow which i find unusual but its really tasty! Not sure what they put in it something about it makes me want more.

Didnt manage to finish everything because we ordered the extra bo luc lac. If we didnt order that and stuck to the banquet we definitely would have finished it.

This is definitely a bargain. I don’t think there are any restaurants in cabramatta that can compete with such a great deal.

Can’t go wrong with some fried chicken- no matter what cuisine!
Um…LMAO on the avocado smoothie incident. I love avocado smoothies when I eat Viet. It’s either that or Soda with beaten egg yolk.
The fried rice does look goooood. I guess if you were thirsty after, it may have been the MSG
