Le Pain Quotidien, Bondi Junction
A simple french cafe that specialises in organic breads made with organic flour, seeds, nuts, grains and raisins. What i love most is their buttery flaky croissants.. and because i’m a Bondi local, its convenient for me buy my croissants from here rather than driving to La Renaissance.
Saturday, (M) and I hadn’t eaten anything all day so we decided to sit for a brief soy latte and a buttery french croissant. Le Pain tends to be our hang out when we to grab something quick so we can focus on important things like retail therapy. (I LOVE SHOPPING!)
what the hell? is that a big…
A kid sitting near me was struggling to eating a big flat gigantic thing. Amazed at how big it was over powering the the child’s head, I couldn’t help myself but flag the waiter asking him what she was eating..
Me: “Excuse me what is that massive thing that kid eating?”
Dude: “It’s a big chocolate chip cookie and it’s only $3.50!”
Without hesitation I told him to hit me up butter cup and doggy bag it
! There was no way i was going to eat that for breakfast. If i ate it, I doubt I’d be able to fit into the clothes I was going to try on
. Last time i saw a massive cookie was at the high school canteen does anyone remember those??? (I doubt they exist anymore).

Sharing is caring..
I’m not too sure what everyone’s thoughts about communal sharing, I was a bit hesitant at first thinking some looser could have spat in it and stirred it… i’m just a paranoid freak.
Communal Belgian praline chocolate spreads
Located on each table is the most adorable spread stand which contains 3 flavours to choose for spreading on your organic breads (dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate)

Communal organic jams
3 flavours to choose from. (apricot, raspberry, 4 fruit jam)

Plain butter croissant – I only come here for their croissants /pastries
Totally in love with their porcelain cheese platter style plates.. fancy way to serve up a $4 croissant. What I love about their croissant is its buttery, flaky and fresh. Crunchy layers on the outside, soft and fluffy in the middle. Goes down with any coffee or even ham and cheese wedged between and toasted![]()

Chocolate croissant - I LOVE YOU!
Because I love my chocolate too much, I’m always one who wishes chocolate croissants were packed with a shit-load of chocolate instead of two thin strips. If i was to make a croissant, i can tell you mine would be oozing with chocolate haha!

Organic soft boiled eggs with organic bread
Eggs and good bread.. can’t go wrong unless the egg is cooked right through. Perfect for the start to the day.

Organic bread basket
Contains butter, with various selection of beads. This dish is for using the communal spreads of your choiceTheir apricot jam is bomb-ass good!

Breakfast ain’t breakfast without the..
English Breakfast Tea
I love their tea bags. Its actually really fancy tea-leaves packed in pyramid shaped teabag. The texture of the teabag is so durable it almost feels like material.

I need you!
I like to start my mornings with a good cuppa coffee… “soy please!” Is it me or are “chinese bowl” style cups (zero handles) seem to be the in cups at the moment?

Bread Stand
Who would have thought a loaf of bread would come in handy?? I love how the tables have bread stands to clip and hold menus together! intelligent I tell ya!

Very cute cafe Leona! I really like the communal choc spreads and jams; I’d be so tempted to take it – unless they sell it at the cafe, then I’ll just buy them
How was shopping? I’m in need for some retail and food therapy..

You’ve got me craving cookies and buttery croissants now! Is this place inside Westfield? I’ve got to go check it out next time I go to Bondi Junction!

damn that is one massive cookie!
s how long did it take you to eat it?

That cookie is bigger than the size of your head! Those communal chocolate and jam spreads are dangerous. I would have smothered them on everything!

Looks like a really nice cafe! Not so sure about communal spreads… Is there a danger of someone double-dipping??

After so many disappointments I now have a rule of no croissants outside of France, but they do look really good.
How was the cookie? At $3.50 for a cookie the size of Tasmania I’m not sure what the quality will have been like?

that cookie is bigger than your head and for just $3.50? I would’ve bought 5!

My exact words after reading this post? “Mum! Forget Manly, we’re going to Bondi next week!” You had me with the cookie, croissant and the Belgian praline chocolate spreads, yum!
Oh and those giant cookies still exist in canteens! At least they do at mine.. Can’t say they’re anything special though :(

That gigantic cookie was only $3.50?! Talk about a good deal. The hard-boiled egg looks so gooey and warm
We must go shopping together sometime

Omg! I remember those giant choc-chip cookies from the school canteen! I used to LOVE them!! That cookie you’re holding looks ginormous!! And totally worth it for $3.50! I must get one next time I’m in Bondi Junction!

I could sit at the table and just eat the communal spreads with a spoon. That is an epic cooking, I want to play frisbee with it.

If the cookie looks that massive when compared to your head, I can’t even begin to imagine how huge that cookie would look to the little kid!
I know what you mean about the school canteen cookies. Though, they were far, far smaller. Those “mammoth” cookes that would usually require two sittings did seem big for those days.
I’m a fan of the chocolate croissant too but for me sometimes too much chocolate can be overwhelming. I much prefer the ones with bars of chocolate over the ones that use mini buttons.

my gosh. Dat a one big ass cookie right there! Love the concept here- communal chocolate spreads?! Never been to a place that offers such gems.
Also, great to know that they weren’t skimpy on the chocolate inside the croissant! Did you eat dinner?

Goodness. Is that thing on steroids?

I looove Le Pain Quotidien. Their Praline spread is the best – I carted jars of it back from Belgium before I realised I could find it in London – and now my London friends bring me jars of it to Australia (since I’m in Melbourne where sadly there is no Le Quot).
btw I looove your photos. So impressive. I’m trying to learn from them

No, you are not paranoid about the communal spreads! …or maybe I’m just paranoid too =p Love the look of the flaky croissants and, um, who could go past THAT cookie?!
