Est. Restaurant – à la carte
= intimate |
= dressy |
= pricey |
= booking required |
= allow preparation
(B) turned 28 so I decided to take him somewhere nice. The best thing i / we love about milestones is celebrating important events with a nice glass of wine and one hell of an expensive dinner. I admit the price hurts but at the end of it I always appreciate what i’ve eaten, experience and the world culinary art . No doubt, if i could eat like this every day I would, but unfortunately my coach purse doesn’t expand with cash like that to support expensive eating tastes. *boo – if only money grew on trees*.
$300 later the food we had was absolutely FANTASTIC. Definitely one of my favourites in fact its soo good it puts 1 chef hat restaurants to shame =| The standard, the quality and the fresh flavours combined was soo god damn good i was actually moaning with every bite!!!!! Move out Justin North, I think this is my new favourite.
If your wondering why the crappy photos, I took this using a digital camera, i couldnt flash my food as I had customers sitting next to me left right and center and I didnt want to be selfish by annoying and ruin their dining experience.

Entreé
Nage of lobster claw, moreton bay bug, scampi, cucumber, peas, ginger and lime
French style dish presented with such generous proportion. Flavours were amazing and I couldn’t believe I was actually seeing a lobster claw! One of the reasons why i never choose lobster dishes is because i’m always disappointed that i can never see or taste lobster particles due to over empowerment but my god i was kicking myself I didn’t order this one and was jealous eyeing (B)’s dish that i even asked to swap hahaha!!!!

Grilled white scallops and calamari, leeks, belgian endive, green apple, hazelnut oil vinaigrette
Once again another fantastic portion. This was soo filling i wanted to pawn some off to (B) but i ended up eating it all. Scallops were huge and the flavours were SOO GOOD. The green apple, leek and hazelnut really did bring this dish to life as we know scallops can be quite plain.

Mains
Crisp skin mulloway fillet, grilled prawn, cauliflower puree, pine nut – celery – parsley relish, romesco salsa
Definitely one the best fish i’ve enjoyed!! The fillet was huge i was struggling by the end of this meal. The prawn was soo fresh and the flavours were unbelievable and the fine detail was spot on!! I LOVE MY MAIN SO SO SO MUCH!!!!

Grilled rangers valley black angus beef fillet, miso – tasmanian wasabi butter, barrel potatoes, young leeks
Such a blokey choice! Looked extremely small in comparison to my main even (B) was a bit disappointed. When he ate half of his beef he was actually full (looks are deceiving) !! Meat was soft and tender, perfect colour in the middle, flavours were really great!Recently went to Rock pool bar & grill where (B) ordered a $60 steak, I asked him how this compares and he said this one was much better!!! *whoa!* big call and I admit it this was really good!

Dessert
Valrhona chocolate fondant, cherries, chocolate meringue and toasted sesame ice cream
I’m not one to order the chocolate desserts as I always like to try something different. This time I thought id choose chocolate and my god it would make any chocolate lover extremely happy. Chocolate meringue was delicious that i ate all of them first. It didnt feel like I was eating meringue as it somewhat had a biscuit texture. Cherries were soo big, juicy and sweet as for sesame icecream… anything that has sesame in it wins me over!

Toasted almond milk mousse, fresh figs, sorbet of fresh tasmanian black currants
Figs are every where at the moment its the trend for this summer as most restaurants have fig everything. Almond milk mousse was orgasmic!!! Personally I think it was better than the Valrhona chocolate dessert!!

Petit Fours
Its always a bonus when petit fours are served. By this point i felt the need to unzip my dress as I was seriously that full!!!! I cant remember the last time my stomach had an overdose…
Est chocolate, berry-like friand , cocoa dusted walnut, sugar coated jelly, 80% dark chocolate, mini caramel tart

Coffee for two
When you order dessert, it always washes down well with a cup of coffee!!!

Would I come here again? Hell yea!! This isnt the last time they’ll be seeing my face again!

OMG Leona! Drools…
Est is definately somewhere I want go and the food looks absolutely divine! Don’t worry about the photos, they still look good and droolworthy! How good do your desserts look?! I had to moan at the chocolate one when I saw it. The fig dessert is screaming out “Sexy summer!” Did you get all those petit fours? If so, lucky…I love getting petit fours as well

Gorgeous! The petits fours look beautiful, and if the steak is even better than rockpool’s, then est is definitely the place to go.

It’s always good when the reputable place delivers…and actually leaves you full rather than having to do a pit-stop somewhere else. What was the Wagyu grade?
Lucky for a lot of eyes it was you eating there and not my Shooter…

the lobster and grilled scallop dishes look really yummy, so much seafood in it. you get better natural lighting without using your flash. as long as you hold it really still and use your macro setting it usually gets a decent result.

I’ve heard so many great things about est. It sure sounds like the price tag was justified – what a lovely night that must have been, even with out flash

The scallops look hoover worthy but the slivers of chocolate goodness would def please any chocoholic. The almond milk mousse does look good as well. Geeze, I would’ve been embarrassing sitting next to during this as I’d closing my eyes ooohing and aahing most of the time!!
