Kelly’s Bar & Grill, Bondi Junction

I’ve been here a couple of times only on occasions where…

  • I haven’t made any reservations..
  • I feel like eating decent priced steak..
  • Can’t be bothered driving anywhere far (I live in the eastern suburbs)..

In my opinion it’s  not the best grill restaurant and it doesn’t compare as close to Meat Wine Co., Hurricanes, I’m Angus and other specialised grill restaurants. However I’ve always liked the food and I think its convenient for me when i really can’t be bothered venturing out far and eating somewhere lavish.

AMBIANCE
Nothing fancy, spread-out over a large area, spacious, family environment, comfortable, and views of the harbour bridge

SERVICE
Quick, efficient, friendly, helpful (no problems here)

FOOD

Complementary – Brioche
I always look forward to recieving the brioche bread (sweet bun). It’s served warm with butter. MMmMmM

Boerewors
Popular South African sausage. Extremely dense sausage as it is made out of beef. However very delicious!

Pork Ribs
I’ve had this a couple of times and sometimes its dry and someitmes its fine. I guess it’s inconsistent most of the time, however it’s still worth a shot and unfortunately.. not the best ribs in the book yet =(

Rib-Eye Fillet (No Fat) and Pork Ribs:
As you can see this rib looks much more flavoured and moist in comparison to the picture above. Ribs were surprising good this round..

Rump
Personally I like the rump better here than Hurricanes. However their Pepper sauce was disappointing as it tasted like pure cream with no pepper taste what so ever =(

Grilled Perch
Had this last night and I was very impressed by the grilled perch. Fish was cooked perfectly and melted once in my mouth. Wasn’t over cooked and wasn’t under cooked! This is my new favourite dish! However I think it could have had some sort of herbs and flavouring on there.. however I liked how the fish tasted plain and boring =)

This is the place that just above the fancy food court i.e. the more upmarket one? Based on you’re review, it doesn’t seem to bad considering it’s a shopping mall restaurant. Though food may not be good as Hurricanes, I would think that the ease of parking would more than make up for it :)

There’s the foodcourt, and above the food court there’s another 4 restaurants not including max brennas ^_^.

Parking is a bonus especially after 6pm when its free ^_^ good thing is its great place to dine if ur thinking about dinner + movies and is running a tight schedule with movie times. ^_^

It may not compare to hurricanes but the food is not bad =P

    I haven’t tried RnR yet can’t really compare >_<

When i’ve had ribs @ Kelly’s a couple of times the meat hasn’t fallen off the bone and its been tough.

When we had them on friday it was actually nice soft and juicy.

They’re sometimes inconsistent but overall its not bad for ribs its decent ^_^

Pretty standard restuarant, probably the best inside westfields of bondi junction. Shirls took me here and I had ribs which were okay. Though I do love sitting outside in the nice breeze with a meal.

same same.. thought it was average so i gave it an average rating of 3.

Its such a convenient location for me i only tend to go here if i really cant be bothered driving far or haven’t made any reservations at a grill place.

yummmm i’d definitely get the boerewors! it’s a favourite of mine because my family lived in south africa for 7 years. it’s a delicious lean sausage, do you find it less oily compared to many sausages?
this place looks quite nice. i’ll have to remember it if i’m ever at bondi and want something better than food court grub. to date i’ve never been to the westfield though, lol .
