Ripples, Sydney Wharf
Its been our agenda to have a girly christmas get together (
·
·
·
). Karen suggested we try ripples as its been on her list after seeing Lisa’s post on the good eating experience she had there. It was suggested to have lunch where we could enjoy the sun and sea breeze without the touristy hustle and bustle with over priced dishes.
It’s a beautiful hidden place with really good food. All up this cost us $50 ahead which we found filling and well satisfied.

Starters
Seared scallops w crisp pork belly, champagne apples & boudon noir
Starter was soo good imagine us 5 girls moaning “ohhh, oooo ahhh omggg!” you’d wanna not share this with anyone. The crispy pork belly was extremely tender when pulling it away with your fork. The scallops were fresh, fat and chunky. The champagne apples and boudon noir worked extremely well with the pork belly as the apples complemented the pork. Loved this so much I would even recommend getting this as a main – flavours were truly amazing!

Yamba prawn tart w creamed leek, feta cheese & tomato salsa
I remember karen saying how much she loved leek and I remembered how much I love it too. Another dish thoroughly enjoyed! The tart base was absolutely delicious and the flavours of the tomato and the feta made this dish really refreshing.
Cant remember tasting the creamed leek not sure if i got any of that part either that or i was soo excited LOL. Did I mention the prawns are friggen huge??? god dayem!!!

Duck liver parfait w cranberry jelly, onion marmalade & pickled prune
We were excited about trying the duck liver that we spread generous portions on our breads. When we took the first bite… our table went quiet… I kind of started to panic quietly as it tasted like I ate a spoon of blood. The duck was soo strong it felt like it was ripped out fresh from a duck and smoothed out on the plate for us to eat. All of us were traumatised couldnt bring our-self to take another bite. I thought if i added more of the condiments (onion marmalade and the prunes) it would take the strong raw bloody taste away but it didnt :(
I’ll try it again im sure we probably just got a bad pick. Ive heard such wonderful reviews about their duck liver so i’m determined to try it again.

Mains
Pan seared ocean trout fillet w farmers style salad, grilled pork toulouse sausage
Trout was cooked to perfection leaving the skin being crispy (nothing is worse than having an over cooked fish) – Ripples did this spot on!. The salad was delicious as it had fried bits of potato like fries that had been thinly diced and the croutons had absorbed a lot of flavouring into it.
Betty was amazed with the perfection of the poached eggs you could see it jiggle knowing that poached eggs were cooked perfect and not over cooked! I enjoyed my dish, it some what felt healthy like a summery grilled fish with salad.

Char grilled beef tenderloins, creamed spinach w horseradish gnocchi & beef short rib ragout
Lisa’s dish was soooo goooood!!!!!!!!!!!! The beef was soft and tender and the horseradish and gnocchi was divine. My favourite was the beef short rib ragout – OMG!!!!!!! When i took my first sample, I instantly thought about the boys and how much they’d loveeee this.!

Sandcrab & fines herb omelette w mixed cress salad, avocado & tomato dressing
Betty ordered the A-w-e-s-o-m-e omellette where pieces of crab meat embedded into the yellow fluffy pillows of egg. I had an image in my head it would be a cheesy omelette and I’m glad it wasn’t as i’m no fan of cheesy eggs. The avocado dressing on the side was really nice it really did make this dish work brilliantly! Dish well loved and enjoyed.

White rabbit fricassee w lardons, artichokes & pappardelle pasta
Its been a while since I ate rabbit and this is the first time i’ve ever had this in a pasta dish. Rabbit was tender and I really liked the flavours of the whole dish. The pasta was delicious though can be very dense and heavy. Every time I looked at Steph’s dish I just wanted to eat that god damn pasta! Really great dish, if your up for pasta you’d get your fix choosing this one.

Ripples famous fish & chips, homemade tartare sauce, lemon
Karen’s fish & chips were huge!!!!!! Omg this is something i’d share between 2 people definitely cant finish this myself. We were all drooling over the homemade tartare sauce which was really really good.Batter was lite and crunchy and the chips were golden brown. Now i know why they’re fish and chips are famous!

Dessert
We tried all the desserts minus the cheese platter due to karen’s phobia of matured gold LOL! (I don’t blame you blue cheese makes me want to gag).
Burnt lemon tart, lemon curd bombe alaska & macadamia toffee
Oh my freaking god this has to me by favourite dessert out of all of them. I’m a huge lemon lover and of all things sour. The tart base was absolutely delicious and the tart was soo good Karen, Lisa and Steph were constantly going back for more. What I also loved was the bombe alaska with the oozing lemon curd from the center and the macadamia toffee which Betty and I could not get enough of.

Strawberry shortcake w champagne & white chocolate mousse, strawberry sorbet
Presentation of this was super cuteeeee. Shortcake was hard to break into, I could taste the presence of champagne felt like it was an cocktail dessert yum. When i was eating this i kept thinking of rhubarb. I think of the strawberries were substituted with rhubarb this would be the bomb!!!!!!! you’ve just gonna love its cuteness. =P

Passionfruit crème brulee w glass biscuit & passionfruit syrup
I loved the tangy passionfruit syrup. I eat 1 passionfruit a week so its one of my favourite fruits. Betty and I loved this dessert to bits that we were both finishing it off during the end while everyone else went hoeing into the tart. – Creme brulee was delicious as you could see the vanilla bean extracts and the thin glass biscuit was a work of art as it was paper thin. – A must have dessert!

White chocolate parfait w bitter chocolate & orange mousse, blood orange jelly
Cant go wrong with Persian fairyfloss. The parfait was really rich and creamy and the chocolate mouse was soft and yummy. Unfortunately we didn’t get to finish this dessert as we were shooed out due to them needing our table =( If your up for an ice-cream based dessert, this one would be the one for you.

Amazing photos, as always! I think lunches are the way to go (in terms of photos hehe)! Argh, thinking of that duck liver pate makes me want to gag!
. Eeww. I’m so happy that everything else was delicious, minus the shooing us out part in the end, it was pretty perfect!

Heehee I was just writing up my post about Ripples today
I thought it was awesome value for the amount of food we got. The duck liver was a pity but the rest of the lunch was awesomeness, especially the company

Geez, you make everything look so amazingly delicious! I can almost taste those seared scallops. You should have taken a photo of everyone’s faces when they tasted the duck liver parfait, though….

Wow, what a fantastic post with such amazing photos! I love the scallops and pork belly, even though it’s such an overused combination now. The sandcrab omelette looks fantastic! Definitely another place to visit! Thanks!

Sounds like a great lunch, apart from the duck liver pate… that sounded really gross! But everything else looked amazing especially that lemon tart with the bombe alaska! How come you guys got shooed out? Even though some places ask you to be out by a certain time I’ve never actually been escorted out of the restaurant without finishing my food.

Great oozy yolk shot ^^! Mmm must try after reading about ti over and over haha

Wow, your description of the duck parfait experience is so traumatic! If only restaurants had spittoons
The rest looks like it made up for the ghastliness, and I’m reminded that it is now definitely summer and I haven’t had fish & chips for a long time! I think tonight calls for a beach + fish + chips good time.

Eeew… too bad about the duck liver – all the other pictures looked great but the story on the duck liver turned me off… however… I still think it is worth a visit… thanks for sharing!

The base even deserves a standing O
