Pasticceria Papa

After reading SMH’s article about Sydney’s Best Cheesecake, I knew I had to try this out for myself as I’m a huge lover of cheesecake! After starving from a Saturday morning work out, I knew it was time to put something different and yummy to the test. As for determining whether this is the best cheesecake.. I’ll let you decide that for yourselves..

Ricotta Cheesecake http://pigged-out.com/wp-content/themes/angel/images/micro_intimate.gif
Very different to the usual cheesecakes found in stores. This cheesecake has a thin layer of pastry / biscuit base on the top and bottom. The top is a cross between biscuit and pastry / thin dough? (hard to explain). Ricotta is soft, lite and very tasty especially when the taste of cinnamon hits your tongue. – Belly loveee

Crostata with Nutella
Forgive me if I have called this the wrong cake.. I tried googling it everywhere and this was the closest I could get. If you know the correct name please let me know.. I hate not knowing the real names of dishes!.

Strange dessert… cross between a slice of biscuit and cake. I thought the base and top would be similar to the cheesecake above but in fact it was more like a biscotti. Quite hard to break into and my first dig of it went flying across the table LOL!!!! (I love it when funny eating issues happen makes me giggly and experience enjoyable). Great dessert if you have a coffee handy. Its not a sweet dessert so I recommend this to anyone who ain’t into sweets but is up for a fight in terms of getting a mouth full.

Bigne (Mini Puffs) http://pigged-out.com/wp-content/themes/angel/images/micro_intimate.gif
As soon as I saw a mountain of beautiful cocoa dusting, it was instant love! I asked the lady what it was and she said there would be a coffee cream in the center. There wasn’t and turns out it was a very light cream with the consistency of eating air. Cream was beautiful and super soo lite that it didn’t make me feel guilty. The puff is similar to a profiterole though feather lite, thinner and fluffier! Very pleasant!

The best bit i love about this was when I choked on the cocoa dusting LOL a powder of coughs came busting out of my mouth! (Haven’t done this since I was a child LOL – Bringing back old school memories ^_^)

Ricotta Cannoli http://pigged-out.com/wp-content/themes/angel/images/micro_intimate.gif
Its a sin not to order a cannoli if your at an italian bakery! I’ve had many many cannoli’s during my life time and these cannolies were gold. Crunchy, fresh and the ricotta was smooth and creamy tasting a tinge of lemon. The nuts at the end took this to another level almost reminding me of the italian cannolies in the italian strip of Boston.

Viennese Biscuits http://pigged-out.com/wp-content/themes/angel/images/micro_intimate.gif
I was looking for viennese biscuits with jam but instead it was filled with Nutella! (OMG) The biscuit was beautiful it was probable one of the nicest Viennese biscuit i’ve had. Very fragile, buttery and delicious.

Foccaccia Pizza
We actually started the day with savouries. After working out at the gym our metabolisms were on fire and the only way we could eat was to base our stomachs with savouries. Foccaccia Pizza / Bruchetta it was. Base was pretty tough but the topping was extremely fresh as you could see it from the photo below.

Pizza a a Talglio
I was saving my stomach for ricotta cheesecake so I chose a smaller option of having something super lite and thin. Potato on this was amazing, soft and delicious. Salt flakes sprinkled on the top made me feel like i was eating something exotic. Although plain without rosemary, I still think its great dish if your not up for something heavy but want something plain and simple.

Schnitzel on Italian Bread
B being a hungry bloke he had to have something with protein. He still thinks brasserie bread is the bomb in terms of bread but I had to keep telling him they’re both different sytles of bread which cannot be compared. This sanga had schnitzel, tomato, grilled egg plant and lots more. – B hoed into it before I could have a bite lol .

This is a very late comment, but I have to agree with you that this is the best ricotta cheesecake that I’ve ever eaten. I was introduced by my ex-colleague, as one day he bought this cake to our office and the whole workplace LOVED it!
