WARNING – PLENTY OF EYECANDY!!
I came here on two separate occasions which consists of savoury and dessert selections
Adriano Zumbo is known for the surprises he leaves when unleashing various cakes that makes your mouth melt! It’s the same when trying to find his chocolate cafe which happens to be tucked away in a tiny almost like alley that is almost invisible to the eye. Cafe Chocolate is fairly small there’s limited seating arrangements so you might have to be made a seat. Trust me I know I sat on a milk crate and a comfy cushion. Thanks guys for making me a seat ^_^

VISIT #1
After spending the 30°c heat @ bondi beach and various markets.. N, M & I had the goal of tackling Adriano Zumbo’s patisserie and cafe balmain.
The Paris – La Vie en Rose
Rose brulee, lychees, raspberry sorbet, rose macarons with coconut, strawberry and tapioca shakeVery refreshing delicious dessert for berry and fruit lovers of all kind. The macaron rose flavour is out of this world as it feels like i’ve eaten a whole rose. When combined in a mouthful, an explosion of berry goodness, rose petals, sweet lychee and the creaminess of the brulee work wonders.

Strawberry and tapioca shake
N was curious as to what was in this fancy glass almost looking like a flask. As she sipped it she instantly shared it around as it was SAGO!!! Who would have thought adriano would bring flavours of asia to this masterpiece!

Miss Marple Deconstructed
Maple and mascarpone filled crepes glazed in orange butter and served with fresh strawberries and frozen orange jelliesMy first visual thought was “whoa check out the vanilla bean extracts in the crepes!” which indicated to me this dish was going to be gold. Inside is filled with mascarpone cream which oozes out when opened. When eating a mouthful, the creamy center plus the maple syrup flavours combine creating an image of what a delicious breakfast this would be as well as an afternoon delight. The orange jellies sure did make a good impression. Its orange juice created into ice cubes which ads a citric touch to this dish. Very much loved ant thoroughly enjoyed.

It’s not a hamburger! …It’s a macaron!
Two giant chocolate macarons filled with dulce de leche gelato and dark chocolate sauce, rested on a bed of banana and caramel rice pudding, finished with a sprinkle of bitter chocolate soil.I’m a chocolate addict and I was curious to try the rice pudding as i’ve had it in the past and not been a huge fan of it as its sweet rice isn’t exactly popular with the asian culture. When I first ate a mouthful omggg I loved it sooo much! Its the best rice pudding i’ve ever had! It wasn’t heavy or too thick and hard to digest like some rice puddings can be. It didn’t feel like I was eating rice it felt like I was eating something else with the taste of bananas. The dulce icecream and the chocolate macarons is the icing on the cake and the cherry on top. Out of all the desserts I like this one the best!

VISIT #2
The boy(s) were annoyed that we didn’t take the to zumbos the first time round and they missed out on the cake I bought previously from the Patisserie. The boy drove us so he could be at peace LOL. Straight after 2hours of working out it was off to Cafe Chocolat for brunch. I thought I had blown away all that hard-earned effort of sweat… Turns out I didnt! *WHOO HOO*
Amazed by the variety of dishes we had.. it made me think that all the savoury foods seem to be made from fresh produce. Its simple, cheap and it made me feel like I was eating organically. Strange don’t know why I got that vibe but that’s the vibe I got.
Quiche of the Day – Pumpkin Quiche and garden salad
J tried Adriano’s quiche’s previously so in love with it he could not resist the temptation of having it again! The Soft pumpkin pieces, crunchy buttery pastry with sprinkled salt flakes is what makes this dish amazing.

Mushroom, Capsicum on a sourdough?
Its super healthy and the mushrooms are fresh and tasty. For some reason we thought this was going to be a hot dish on a bed of toasted bread. Bread had herb spread which added flavour to the dish. One of the popular dishes during brunch period. Nearly everyone had ordered this dish.

Pesto, Prosciutto, Bocconcini and Roma Tomatoes
When it first came out i was thinking to myself “man this is huge!” There was soo much filling on it I had to take some filling out to fold the roll in half. Although it was hard to eat as the bread was chewy (my head almost flew off from the jerk) but everything else was beautiful. The freshness of prosciutto and the bocconcini and tomatoes.. I couldn’t be happier especially since I didn’t feel guilty about eating anything unhealthy!

Turkey & Cranberry
A sanga you just cant get wrong especially when it involves brie.

Ice Coffee & Milkshakes
Ice coffee here is the bomb N & I couldn’t stop thinking about it the next day! Its not your usual kind of ice coffee with whipped cream and a billion calories its more like a really good strong shot of coffee with blended ice and milk.. almost like a frappe but better. J ordered the butterscotch milkshake and OMG it was the bomb!!!!! Definitely gonna get a milkshake next time.

Ahh I’m suffering serious Zumbo withdrawal, I’ve stayed away since the masterchef mania. Was it still crazy busy? I remember having the la vie en rose last time, how good is the tapioca shake? How good was the whole thing?? I love how the photos make me feel like I shrank and fell into the plate
mmm

My aim is to bring forth all the places I think are great through the eyes of a normal everyday customer hoping one day you'll try a particular place I posted.
I like to portray the experience I had using photos to capture the beauty of a dish. Sometimes people don't have time to read everything so from a visual perspective, i like to provide readers with a photographic experience that will hopefully lure and tickle their taste buds.

Aki’s prawn vendakai curry featured in masterchef! Back in the 90′s when growing up, Indian food was always stereotyped as looking unfriendly (considering nothing could be seen underneath that delicious curry sauce). Over the years Indian food has definitely reached the mouths of many cultures and become a cuisine where people are not afraid to...

I like my fried rice to have lots of ingredients. I don’t like fried rice with scummy bits of chinese sausage, egg, shrimp, etc. I prefer one that has lots of ingredients in it to make it a meal in itself! Each mouthful should have a tiny piece of everything. There are many different kinds...

Etch is a small modern European (French, Italian & Spanish influences) restaurant with excellent prices. Instead of paying lots of money for a fancy dish, Etch's prices are reasonable. In my opinion its market is aimed at those who want a fine dining experience which doesn't leave pockets completely dry. Early last year I first went to Etch for a colleagues birthday (read previous entry). Since then I had fond memories of some of the dishes I had. After being so long since I last visited, it has been one of the places the girls had been wanting to try for approximately 1 year. Finally, there was a reason for us girls to get together in celebration of spicyicecream's birthday *whoo...
